About NOVA

NOVA (Renamed after Calcutta Science and Cultural Forum), an Indian environment and social development voluntary organization, was founded in September 1986 in Jadavpur, South Kolkata following a mass rally in Kolkata on August 6, 1986 that protested the use of atomic energy and atomic power in memory of 'Hirosima Dibas'.. The main goal of NOVA is to promote scientific knowledge and temperament among students in school and college. Our mission is the 'Science for everybody, everybody for science'. Education is the key to a better life. It is the most powerful catalyst for social change. Education cannot take place in isolation, however. Children can only be properly educated through a rich scientific education system. Rather than focusing only on textbook knowledge and exam-oriented syllabuses, we emphasize scientific approaches and methods of learning. The proper education increases one's awareness of environmental and social problems as well as their ability to earn a living. Through healthcare, sustainable development, science and technology dissemination, and environmental education, NOVA aims to educate, empower, and cultivate better citizens.
